This summer, on the occasion of the XXVI edition of the International Chamber Music Festival “Alla scoperta degli antichi luoghi del Garda“, the Haydn Foundation of Bolzano and Trento returns to the stage.

Saturday 14 August at 21.00, Vittoriale degli Italiani will host the film concert directed by Frank Strobel Im Kampf mit dem Berge.

Paul Hindemith’s music will be paired with a masterpiece of the silent film era, Im Kampf mit dem Berge by Arnold Fanck.

“Im Kampf mit dem Berge” or “In Sturm und Eis: Eine Alpensymphonie in Bildern” is a German silent film directed in October 1920 by the mountain movie pioneer Arnold Fanck. The film follows the skiers Hannes Schneider and Ilse Rohde as they climb the majestic Lyskamm, (4.500m), located in the Pennine Alps (Switzerland), between the Cervino (west) and Monte Rosa’s group (east).

The Haydn Foundation combines the open-air movie screening with the live performance of the  Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento conducted by Frank Strobel.
