Auditorium

Auditorium

The Auditorium has a seating capacity able to accommodate 200 people; it is used for conventions, events and performances in accordance with d’Annunzio’s will; a video is also screened within, illustrating the rooms in the Priory and in d’Annunzio the Hero Museum. D’Annunzio willed his S.V.A. airplane to be hung from the ceiling and it is the one he flew over Vienna on 9 August 1918 to launch flyers announcing Italy’s victory. The Auditorium also hosts two permanent photographic exhibitions on the life of Gabriele d’Annunzio and on the construction of Il Vittoriale, in addition to an exhibition of contemporary artists who were inspired by d’Annunzio: these include Giorgio De Chirico and Mario Pompei.
